FED. has been making freshly prepared heat and eat meals and delivering them to Kiwi homes and schools since 2018.
Since the beginning of 2021 we've been serving up lunches to Kiwi kids in nine schools as part of the Ka Ora Ka Ako programme.
FED. is committed to providing healthier meal choices for children and works with the Heart Foundation to develop Fresh Made healthy menus.
All school meals have a health star rating of 4 or more.
We can provide Halal meals and meals for students with special dietary requirements
Our production partner Gate has an extensive facility and has produced its own food safety control system, based on principles of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) giving you assurance that the meals are produced to the highest food standards.
Gate is adept at catering to halal, vegan, vegetarian and kosher customers, meaning religious and dietary requirements can be catered for. Gate has dedicated areas of its kitchens set aside for production of these meals to ensure there is no cross contamination.
Given the current network it supplies, food safety is of the utmost priority for Gate.
As a meal delivery business, FED. has an existing network of third party logistics providers that are working with us to deliver the meals. This means that we are not at the mercy of broken-down trucks or staff sickness.
Once the meals are delivered we work closely with the school to design a distribution system that works for you!
FED. lunches are packaged in fully compostable lunchboxes.
FED. supplies green compostable bags to all schools and once lunch is finished these are transferred to a green bin that is held on site and emptied regularly by our waste partners, Green Gorilla.
All waste is then taken to our composting partner Envirofert to be turned into compost for the farming community.
FED. has a dedicated school lunch team that work with our schools to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Meet Tess our school lunch manager. It’s Tess’ job to visit our schools every week to ensure that everything in our lunch service is as it should be.
From checking off orders before they go out for delivery, running quality assurance checks on meals and ensuring bins are emptied regularly, Tess is our right hand woman for making sure your tamariki are well FED.
A love of home economics propelled Beckie Pilley into the world of professional kitchens at the age of 15. Starting her culinary life as an apprentice at La Trattoria in Parnell she then learned her craft in some of Auckland’s most notable restaurants including Sourdough Restaurant, Sails, Zarbo and SPQR where she was Head Chef.
Beckie is the exec chef for FED. where she is responsible for menu development, production and quality assurance.
With a background in health, physical education and teaching, Mauricio is our supervisor for West and East Auckland.
Like Tess, it's his job to ensure meals are delivered in time and to the highest standard.
“The programme has made a positive difference to the school environment and facilitated the coming together of our school community in a way that allows us to have conversations about learning without it being too ‘work’ focused.”
